KINSMEN CLUB OF SASKATOON
COMPETITION & SCHOLARSHIPS
The Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon is contributing four scholarships for Vocal, Piano, Strings and Instrumental (woodwinds, guitar, brass and percussion) competition.
REGULATIONS:
a. Application to participate in the competitions for these scholarships is to be made at the time of regular entries.
b. Application to participate for a scholarship may be made by a student who has entered two Senior Open, Grade A or Grade B classes in the same discipline (excluding 17 and18 and under classes and the National Class) in the Saskatoon Music Festival.
c. The adjudicators shall have the liberty of requesting the participation of any performer in the Vocal, Piano or Instrumental competition, who has competed in two senior classes
d. Each scholarship is to be awarded, upon recommendation of the adjudicator, to the competitor who gives the most outstanding performance in the final competition of each category (Vocal, Piano, Instrumental).
e. Scholarship money is for the continuance of musical studies of the student
f. The entrant must perform any selection he/she has performed in a senior class in the current year’s festival. Each vocal finalist must perform a program not less than 8 min. This may consist of 2 or 3 songs. Major works are encouraged. There is no maximum time limit on a performer.
g. Memory work is mandatory.
h. A competitor may win only one Kinsmen scholarship in each category (Vocal, Piano, Instrumental).
i. The final competitions will be judged by a panel of adjudicators.
j. SEMI FINAL COMPETITION:
VOCAL: A semi final competition leading to the Kinsmen Sing off will be held in order that the vocal adjudicator shall establish two final competitors.
PIANO: A semi final competition leading to the Kinsmen Piano Playoff will be held in order that the piano adjudicator shall establish two final competitors.
STRINGS: A semi final competition leading to the Kinsmen String Playoff will be held in order that the string adjudicator shall establish two final competitors.
INSTRUMENTAL: A semi final competition leading to the Kinsmen Instrumental Playoff will be held in order that the adjudicators shall establish one final competitor to represent each division.
