Syllabus
The Saskatoon Music Festival class listing consists of two sources: the syllabus published by the Saskatchewan Music Festival Association (SMFA), and the local addenda.
Festival performers, teachers, and parents / caregivers are responsible for familiarizing themselves with the rules and regulations in the SMFA Syllabus and local addenda. Failure to comply with rules and regulations may result in disqualification from competition.
Participants wishing to compete in the Saskatoon Music Festival may enter any class listed in the SMFA Syllabus or the Addenda.
Participants wishing to compete in the SMFA Provincial level of competition must enter designated provincial classes (marked with a "(P)"). In order to advance from a provincial class to the provincial finals competition, the competitor must place first or second in the class with a mark of 87 or higher. Two eligible competitors from each provincial class may advance to the provincial finals competition.
Participants wishing to compete in the Canada West Performing Arts Festival must enter the designated Canada West class for their age group and discipline. The qualifications to advance to the provincial level of the CWPAF are the same as to advance to the provincial finals competition.
